Home Sweet Home!

Yay!!! Semester break started and I'm back in my hometown.  It feels soooo good to be home! The boyfriend was even more excited to know I'm coming home.

On Saturday, we had a great workout date and a midnight movie date. Man of Steel was well worth paying for. The effects were awesome. It had a different twist to what I usually have seen in cartoons or movies. The boyfie and I really enjoyed it very much.




The people who were in the cinema with us made the whole time watching the movie an ordeal. ><!!  The couples next to us talked non stop!! Then, there were those who brought their young toddlers along. Seriously, I don't understand what were in their heads dragging their small kids out late at night for a movie that hasloud sound effects. Are they out of their minds?!!

Yesterday which was a Sunday, we had a home cooked dinner. It was delicious although it was a simple meal. We both enjoy cooking.  There were so many instances when we thought maybe we should have enrolled into a culinary school rather than what we're doing now.

Cooking took quite a while and by the time dinner was prepared, our feet ached. Getting to sit was like a heavenly treat. Haha...

I must say, guys definitely look the sexiest when they are cooking. Good food and sexy guy, I  definitely feel like a princess at home. 


Our simple yet delicious meal



I have included some of the recipes of the items we made.
Pan seared marinated lamb with herbed BBQ sauce, served with buttered beans with dash of black pepper and salad

The lamb was bought from the supermarket, already marinated. We wanted to have pan seared salmon but they were out of it.

Salad Dressing Recipe (self created):
  • 2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 shallot (finely chopped)
  • a handful of roughly chopped cilantro
  • a handful of roughly chopped spring onions
  • lemon juice (to taste)
  • lemon zest
  • 1 red chilli (deseed and finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (can be replaced with similar or more amount of yogurt) 
  • 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp of brown sugar
(the ingredients can be replaced with whatever that suits your taste)
Mix all in a bowl, chill and serve with salad mix of your choice. 


Herbed BBQ Sauce (self created):
  • 3 cloves of garlic (roughly chopped)
  • 1 onion (roughly chopped)
  • 5 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • Juice from half of a lemon
  • Brown sugar (to taste)
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • a cube of butter
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Heat the pan with olive oil, add in the butter to melt. Then, saute the onion and garlic. Once fragrant, throw in the rest of the ingredients and cook till it starts to bubble. If it is too thick, add some liquid to your liking.


Buttered beans:
  • Beans ( locally known as French beans), cut dioganally 
  • 1 clove of garlic (finely chopped)
  • 1 shallot (finely chopped)
  • A slab of butter
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • A pinch of salt
Heat pan with olive oil, melt the butter. Saute the chopped ingredients. Once fragrant, throw in the beans. Do not overcook it or you'll never enjoy the cunch. Sprinkle with pepper and salt. Serve hot.


Chicken snitzels with fries

This was made entirely by the boyfie. It was good!

Chicken snitzels
  1. Batter
    • breadcrumbds (our were mades using blended toasted wholemeal bread slices)
    • parmesan cheese sprinkles
    • pepper
  2. Chicken
    • One chicken breast (deboned)
First, half the chicken breast to make it thin. Lightly pound the meat and season with salt and pepper. Mix all the batter ingredients in a bowl. Prepare an egg wash. Coat the chicken with flour, then into the egg wash then into the batter. Pan fry the snitzels with low heat with just a bit of oil.

With such a meal, we were filled to the brim.
