HomemadeMarket X Aun Soon Confectionary Green Bean Biscuit

Growing up, I always hear about how tasty Penang green bean biscuits are. Now, I have just been introduced to one that is almost as good as the one from Penang. The green bean biscuits are also known locally as Tau Sa Peah (Hokkien) or Tau Sa Pang(Cantonese) or Dou Sa Bing (Mandarin).

Homemade Market has sent me a box of this delicious and aromatic green bean biscuits for me to try it out.

Aun Soon Confectionary is a humble little shop located at Malacca that creates delicious homemade biscuits and cookies , Chinese traditional biscuits and cookies that is. For Aun Soon, this biscuit is one of their signature biscuit and also they only sell one flavour of biscuit in contrary to those in Penang.

The moment I open up the biscuit, the aroma of fried onion and baked pastry fills the air. The biscuit is made up of flaky pastry for the skin, ground green bean filling that is mixed with fried onion, salt, and sugar.

At first bite, the skin was so flaky and thin. Flaky skin is definitely a texture that is very enjoyable with each bite. Having thin skin means you get more filling instead of just dough from the skin. I would say that to me, having the right amount of dough to filling ratio is important to ensure a very tasty food experience. You do not want to have too much of the dough flavour in comparison to the filling every time you bite into the biscuit.

Many of the customers who have visited are often welcomed with warm hearts and open hands to showcase how they make their biscuits.

So, if you are looking for some good tasty treats in Malacca, be sure to drop by Aun Soon Confectionary and have a great time with the selections of biscuits and pastry, the homemade style.

Delectable Waffles at Comic Coffee

I have always loved waffles ever since I have tasted those sold by regular stalls in the shopping mall or by the food court of a hypermarket. As years go by, the taste of those waffles seems lacking of some good flavour and I am always looking for some good waffles. Thank goodness I have found a place to satisfy my waffle cravings without having to travel far or going through the traffic.

Comic Coffee open its doors about a year ago at Jalan Mahogani, Bandar Botanic, Klang. It is practical just next door to my house, well not literally but you get what I am going at *grins*. The boss of the place is a young man who is ever so bubbly with his comrades and customers. Mind you, he is only 25 years old!

Back to food, the waffles are made fresh upon order and they are served hot. They have a number of variants or flavours that one could choose from.

From top clockwise: Mixed Fruits with Cream Waffles(RM10.90), Ice Cream Waffles(RM10.90), and Oreo with Cream Waffles(RM9.90).
Drinks: Japanese Sencha (RM9.90) (Right) and Rose Latte (RM10.90)  (Left hidden)

Mixed Fruits with Cream Waffles is by far one of my personal favourite. The waffles are served with delicious whipped cream which does not feel taste overly fattening nor sweet; somehow they have the right recipe for the whipped cream which I love! That aside, you get this gorgeous serving of fruit slices in the middle that goes super well with the whipped cream, chocolate syrup drizzle, and  of course, waffles. !

Ice Cream Waffles is another favourite where you get decadent vanilla ice cream and generous amount of chocolate syrup drizzle along with some semisweet chocolate chips. Kids and adults alike will not be able to get enough of them.

Oreo with Cream Waffles on the other hand, seems like your classic cookie and cream servings with fresh waffles but wait, cookies are OREOS! Who could say no Oreos?! I am sure a lot out there would love this.

Left: Machiatto (RM6.90)
Right: Comic Mocha (RM10.90)
What is a coffee place without coffee right? The team in in Comic Coffee are mostly made up of talented barista including the owner. Their coffee definitely hits the spot whenever we are there for a chill time.

Rose Latte is one of their signature drink which I love. Not only do they look pleasant to the eyes, they taste lovely in your mouth. The mild rose scent envelopes your taste bud and lingers for a while; prolonging the Rose Latte drinking experience. If you are not a coffee kind of person, you can opt for Rose Chocolate.

Japanese Sencha is one of my must have whenever I am there for a break with some sweet waffles, those definitely hit the spot. The smooth sencha with the bursting aroma paired with the waffles' sweetness, it is almost like the right pair together.

Macchiato is served with the right amount of espresso to foam ratio if you are looking for the quick pick-me-up before you start your day or in between your busy day. While some actually benefits from caffeine fix, I do not have that privilege; which means I could still sleep after two shots of espresso. What a bummer right?!

Comic Mocha is always my other half's go to drink no matter the time of the day. It is a blend of coffee and chocolate with right amount of milk and foam.

If you are looking for a simple place with good dessert along with some coffee, do check out Comic Coffee. With an affordable price range, you will have a great time hanging out with your buddies while indulging your taste buds.

Things Young Couples Should Realize

Remember when back in those days, our parents would tell us to always concentrate on education and never get into any relationships until we were able to feed ourselves? Well, that was probably a decade ago or so and perhaps some parents today still have similar things to say to their kids.

Now, so many young couples around and more often than not, I noticed the petty things they would be arguing about. I have also noticed that most of the time, the ideology of a relationship has been influenced by all the TV dramas and serials like K-Drama where the guys would be ever so manly and be swooning every girls of their feet.

Here are some of the things we should know about relationship reality:

Gamer Couple: Expectation vs Reality:

1. Relationship Expectations

People need to understand that no matter how amazing a relationship looked like in a drama, reality may not be the same. If you are expecting your other half to be like the hero of the drama that you have been watching, please stop. It is not fair to your partner. Each individual are different.

2. Paying During A Date

If neither of you are working and earning your own bucks, chances are you are out on a date with the money you have gotten from your parents - you either requested allowances for the day or it is the lump sum of allowance you get a month. If that is the case, please be considerate and 'Go Dutch' with your date expenses. 'Go Dutch' is splitting the bill equally, by the way.
No doubt a guy paying for the date seems like a very nice thing but be realistic. Splitting the bill is not all that bad and you two are are taking responsibilities of your own relationship.

3. The Need To Constantly Be In Touch

Source: www.theonlinemomcom
Unless your phone calls are unlimited for the fixed amount of payment per month, be smart and get off the phone. As it is your parents have got to pay for the phone bill, you hanging on the phone 24/7 is not a smart thing to do.
If your partner is working or busy, they would have been too tired both mentally and physically in order to constantly be in touch with you.  You need to learn to take it down a notch and let your partner recuperate along with their own personal time.

4. The Responsibility Lies on Either Partner

In any relationship, it takes two to tango, to make things work. While we often see in dramas that the male counterpart or either partner has to put in all the effort and miraculously the relationship would work, it does not apply in real life. Both partners need to work together to complete the relationship like Yin and Yang.

5. Effective Communication

No one can read your mind but yourself. If you have something you would like your partner to know, speak it up. Talk to your partner and discuss on things. You both need to explain and express what you like or dislike. While you are at it, make it a discussion instead of stating things. Discussing things over would help you in understanding each other better.

6. Create Your Own Stories Together

Source: Tumblr.com
When in a relationship, you need to work together and create your own stories. Your relationship is your story that you will share with others and not trying to recreate what others have in their relationship. Your stories are the ones that you will sit together sometime in the future smiling and laughing about.

Of course, I am in no way saying that all things in drama are fake as their scripts were written by humans who would have or are in relationship. However, always these scripts and story are written based on what people would be inclined to watch.

Regardless, always live life to the fullest and enjoy your relationship journey together. Grow with one another and be happy!
